Kevin, died aged 17

Kevin from Newtownbutler was a passenger in a car involved in a single-vehicle collision on the Newtownbutler-Clones Road in County Fermanagh in the early hours of Saturday morning, 2nd August 2008. He died later from his injuries in the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen.

The driver of the vehicle pleaded guilty to causing death by driving without due care and attention whilst unfit through alcohol and was imprisoned.

Kevin was friendly and sociable. He just went about his business. Some Saturday nights he’d babysit for his younger brother and sister. He would have done a lot, he was great with the children; he was brilliant.

He was at the training centre 2 days a week and he was training to become a lorry mechanic.

Kevin’s Mother says:

"My message is if you go out driving over the limit, you're breaking the law and you know what can happen and that's not an accident in my eyes - it's not."
